Job Description

BMO is currently sourcing for a Business Consultant. This is a hybrid contract role in Toronto (1-2 days in office per week).

Role Overview

The Business Consultant will support the Analytics & Reporting group within Technology & Operations Capital Markets. The role focuses on business analysis, requirements gathering, stakeholder engagement, and the development of reporting and analytics solutions, including Power BI dashboards. This position plays a key role in the UK T+1 initiative and contributes to ongoing analytics, automation, and process improvement efforts, driving measurable business value.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner with business stakeholders to understand and document business and data requirements related to the UK T+1 initiative.
• Facilitate stakeholder discussions to identify business logic, data definitions, metrics, and success criteria.
• Develop and maintain Business Requirements Documents (BRDs), process documentation, and project artifacts.
• Collaborate with technology teams to design, test, and implement data views, datasets, and reporting solutions.
• Perform data analysis and validation to ensure accuracy and completeness of reports.
• Develop, enhance, and maintain Power BI dashboards to support program governance and operational monitoring.
• Support project planning, testing, issue resolution, and stakeholder communications throughout the initiative lifecycle.
• Design and implement Power BI reporting solutions across Trade Servicing, Product Control, and other business functions.
• Build analytics solutions that effectively communicate trends, risks, insights, and key performance metrics.
• Support analytics, automation, and continuous improvement initiatives through data-driven solutions.
• Champion the adoption of enterprise reporting and analytics tools and participate in strategic initiatives and project workstreams.

Must-Have Skills

• University degree in Business, Commerce, Data Analytics, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Finance, or related discipline.
• 3–7 years of experience in business analysis, analytics, reporting, consulting, or project delivery roles.
• Experience gathering requirements, documenting business processes, and translating business needs into reporting solutions.
• Experience working with cross-functional stakeholders and technology teams.
• Advanced proficiency in Power BI, SQL, and Microsoft Excel.
• Experience performing data analysis, data validation, and dashboard development.
• Strong understanding of reporting, analytics, and business intelligence concepts.
• Experience supporting large-scale transformation or regulatory initiatives is an asset.

Nice to Have Skills

• Knowledge of Capital Markets, Operations, Trade Servicing, Settlement, or T+1 processes.

Ideal Candidate

• Experience contributing to analytics and reporting improvements in Capital Markets or financial services environments.
• Proven ability to develop intuitive analytics solutions for senior audiences that drive business outcomes.
• Familiarity with automation and continuous improvement initiatives in analytics or reporting functions.
• Demonstrated capability to support strategic initiatives and foster operational excellence.
