Job Description
BMO is currently sourcing for a Business Consultant. This is a hybrid contract role in Toronto (1-2 days in office per week).
Role Overview
The Business Consultant will support the Analytics & Reporting group within Technology & Operations Capital Markets. The role focuses on business analysis, requirements gathering, stakeholder engagement, and the development of reporting and analytics solutions, including Power BI dashboards. This position plays a key role in the UK T+1 initiative and contributes to ongoing analytics, automation, and process improvement efforts, driving measurable business value.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with business stakeholders to understand and document business and data requirements related to the UK T+1 initiative.
- Facilitate stakeholder discussions to identify business logic, data definitions, metrics, and success criteria.
- Develop and maintain Business Requirements Documents (BRDs), process documentation, and project artifacts.
- Collaborate with technology teams to design, test, and implement data views, datasets, and reporting solutions.
- Perform data analysis and validation to ensure accuracy and completeness of reports.
- Develop, enhance, and maintain Power BI dashboards to support program governance and operational monitoring.
- Support project planning, testing, issue resolution, and stakeholder communications throughout the initiative lifecycle.
- Design and implement Power BI reporting solutions across Trade Servicing, Product Control, and other business functions.
- Build analytics solutions that effectively communicate trends, risks, insights, and key performance metrics.
- Support analytics, automation, and continuous improvement initiatives through data-driven solutions.
- Champion the adoption of enterprise reporting and analytics tools and participate in strategic initiatives and project workstreams.
Must-Have Skills
- University degree in Business, Commerce, Data Analytics, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Finance, or related discipline.
- 3–7 years of experience in business analysis, analytics, reporting, consulting, or project delivery roles.
- Experience gathering requirements, documenting business processes, and translating business needs into reporting solutions.
- Experience working with cross-functional stakeholders and technology teams.
- Advanced proficiency in Power BI, SQL, and Microsoft Excel.
- Experience performing data analysis, data validation, and dashboard development.
- Strong understanding of reporting, analytics, and business intelligence concepts.
- Experience supporting large-scale transformation or regulatory initiatives is an asset.
Nice to Have Skills
- Knowledge of Capital Markets, Operations, Trade Servicing, Settlement, or T+1 processes.
Ideal Candidate
- Experience contributing to analytics and reporting improvements in Capital Markets or financial services environments.
- Proven ability to develop intuitive analytics solutions for senior audiences that drive business outcomes.
- Familiarity with automation and continuous improvement initiatives in analytics or reporting functions.
- Demonstrated capability to support strategic initiatives and foster operational excellence.
