ServiceNow CMDB Analyst (Governance & Data Quality)

Job Description

Role Overview

This role supports CMDB governance, data quality, attestation, and certification activities to keep configuration data accurate, complete, and fit for use. The analyst works with technology owners, service owners, and stakeholders to validate CMDB information and maintain supporting documentation. It focuses on governance, data quality, and reporting rather than platform administration, development, or Discovery implementation.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage CMDB attestation and certification activities with technology and service owners
• Review, analyze, and validate Configuration Item data for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with governance standards
• Support periodic data quality reviews and remediation efforts for CMDB records and relationships
• Maintain CMDB governance documentation, procedures, standards, and operating models
• Document CI classes, ownership models, service mappings, and data management processes
• Produce CMDB health, compliance, and attestation reporting for stakeholders and leadership
• Support audit, risk, compliance, and governance initiatives requiring CMDB evidence or certification results
• Support adoption of CSDM and CMDB governance practices across the organization

Must-Have Skills

• Experience supporting ServiceNow CMDB governance, data management, or configuration management processes
• Strong understanding of CMDB concepts, Configuration Items, CI relationships, and service models
• Experience coordinating data attestation, certification, validation, or compliance activities
• Knowledge of CMDB data quality principles, governance controls, and stewardship practices
• Experience creating and maintaining process documentation, standards, procedures, and governance artifacts
• Experience with reporting and analysis using ServiceNow reporting, Excel, Power BI, or similar tools
• Understanding of ITIL Configuration Management principles

Nice to Have Skills

• Experience with Common Service Data Model (CSDM)
• Experience supporting audit, risk, regulatory, or compliance reviews
• Familiarity with ServiceNow CMDB Health metrics and governance reporting
• Knowledge of ITSM processes including Incident, Change, Problem, Asset, Vulnerability, and Technology Lifecycle Management
• Diploma or degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
• ITIL Foundation certification
• Training or certification in ServiceNow, CMDB, or CSDM
• Background in data governance, data quality, audit, or compliance

Ideal Candidate

• 3+ years of experience supporting CMDB, configuration management, data governance, or IT service management processes
• Track record with attestation, certification, data validation, and reporting activities across multiple stakeholder groups
• Familiarity with ServiceNow CMDB concepts, CI relationships, and CSDM in a governance capacity
